It turns out that our daughter at 8 weeks old is already beyond spoiled – she’s landed the most beautiful room in our house! I can’t wait to share the full reveal with you guys but let’s just say I wish this was my bedroom. We’ve put so much thought and detail into this space so it’d be neutral, calming, and simplistic. I love the way it’s turned out.
But- decorating gets expensive! Along with everything else you need to purchase when expecting, decorating can easily get pushed aside. We’ve managed to keep everything pretty tame and this DIY upcycled gallery wall was no exception. I looked at purchasing new frames with art in them from Homesense and was looking at about $200.
So off to the thrift store I went and purchased these 5 frames for $25.
I made sure to pick frames that were wood, large, chunky, and decorative.
After popping out the glass where possible, and taping up the glass for the frames that it couldn’t be removed on, I used some inexpensive paint from Michaels and painted away!
Side note – priming would have saved me quite a bit of time!
I ended up doing 3 thick coats on the frames. If I had primed them white first, it would have been one coat.
I spent some time playing with the arrangement of the frames by laying them out on the floor before calling in my husband to begin hanging. Creating a layout in advance will save you so much time and save your walls from unnecessary nail holes.
Final step was to find some free printables on Pinterest, print them out, and reassemble all the frames. Simple!
A gallery wall is a great way to fill a large blank space in a room.
And for $25, I think it looks pretty awesome!
I’ll be posting our full nursery reveal including some scary before & afters soon!
